History of Establishment in Venango County
The Township of Pinegrove was established in 1806 and was the fifteenth township established in Venango County. It was organized for judicial purposes from part of Farmington Township, Clarion County, and all of Tabas Township, Venango County in 1824, subdivision 1806.
Topography
A portion of the township is very rough and hilly. While in some places the soil is very productive and under a high state of cultivation. Especially in this case is the vicinity of Centerville, where there are some very fine farms. The fine buidlings located there are indications of the great enterprise of the people.
School Establishment
In the Township of Pinegrove, the public school system was adopted in 1835. For 6 or 7 years, school houses were built by subscription, and, the public funds employed the payment of teachers. In 1835 -1836, John B. McCalmont taught at the school for a salary of $12.oo per month plus room and board.

Beginning at the north corner of Fairfield (Cranberry) Township on the Allegheny River, thence up the same to the west boundary of Track #2844 granted to Wilheim Willink and others, thence west to the east boundary of Tract #2530 granted above, thence south to the corner thereof, thence west to the southeast corner of Fairfield Township, thence by the same, north to the place of beginning, to be called the Township of Pinegrove.
